Happy Kitchen Project: Floating Candle Fun
Day 22: Happy Kitchen Project: Floating Candle Fun
A really cute and easy way to make your kitchen happy is to use good ole mason jars, some floating candles (from the dollar store), some water and a bunch of colourful objects that make you or your children happy. Mix them all together and viola you have instant happy. Use the mason jar as a mini art gallery for your imagination. Think about what adds colour and interest to your table, both indoors and outdoors. We have some ideas for you! Keep reading…..
Our first mason jar was a mix of Rosemary, limes, lemons, and some essential oils. Not only did these jars looks beautiful with a natural aesthetic, but they also acted as an insect repellent. See our blogpost here for the recipe.
Another lovely way to showcase colour with a natural aesthetic is to use flowers or fruit.
Try putting some fine twigs in the water.
Try using shells in the bottom of your jars.
Or try beads
To make our floating candles fun and appealing for kids, we decided to throw a few colourful toys in the water.
We used numbers, some tokidoki figurines and some red hearts but any colourful plastic toy will do.
Think about what works with your colour scheme.
For fun, try using different colour candles.
Try making jars with candles for the different holiday celebrations throughout the year. Here are some cute winter holiday and Thanksgiving ideas.
Or keep your mini galleries simple. Simple is sophisticated and always looks good, see the example below.
